Petrified Gorgon for Camille Hesketh (voice) and electronics
Over two workshops in July and October 2014, Camille Hesketh and I narrowed our focus to a particularly florid work by Giovanni Girolamo Kapsperger and an imagery-rich prose poem by Margaret Atwood. Not wanting to quote either directly, we chose particular turns of phrase (both musical and literary) for Camille to extrapolate in improvisation. I recorded these, altered them, recorded Camille again and put together a score and fixed media. We look forward to expanding this into a longer staged work soon.
Premiere February 14, 2016 at Chemainus Classical Concerts, BC
